History

History - I wanted to build a bike from a 1979 CB750K that I had purchased some years ago. I first started by modifying the original frame, but I didn't like the way that it turned out. The paint job turned out really good and I may keep the tanks and fenders painted the way they are. It always came back to the frame; it was just not what I wanted. I purchased two Yamaha 650cc twins later and wanted to build a mono-shock type frame for one of them. I figured that I should start with a rigid frame first just to get some experience. So since the Honda’s frame was always the thing I did not like it became the likely candidate to get the rigid frame. The frame jig that I am using has been in development for about three years now. I wanted a jig that I could build a frame of any size or shape on and not have to rebuild the jig each time. The jig is chronicled on a separate page. The frame has a 35-degree rake with about eight inches of stretch in the down tubes and about six inches of stretch in the backbone. I wanted to be comfortable, most bikes I get on are too small (I'm 6'2") and I almost always felt cramped in the legs. The only one that I don’t feel cramped on is my 97 Heritage. I plan on building a set of Springer forks that utilize a single coil over shock for the front. I will use the stock wheel in the rear and a 19" wheel up front.
